Egg Carton School Bus

Supplies Needed:
- Lid or top of an egg carton
- Yellow paint or markers (optional)
- 2 lids from milk jugs (for wheels)
- Black marker
- Scissors
- Small cutouts of people from magazines, coloring books or hand drawn (optional)
Instructions:
- Cut the lid off of an egg carton.
- Paint (or color with marker) the lid yellow (optional).
- While the paint is drying, color two milk jug lids using a black marker.
- While the lids are drying, carefully cut small images of people from magazines or coloring books or draw your own.
- Once the paint and marker is dry, glue on the wheels.
- Glue the images of people onto the bus. The carton we used had holes down the center, so we glued the people into the holes
- If yours doesn't have holes, just glue the people onto the bus. You can draw "windows" around them with a black marker.
- Write SCHOOL along the top of the bus

Recycled Text Book Covers

Keep those textbooks looking new by creating fun book covers!
Supplies Needed:
- Ruler
- Tape
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Book cover material
- Ex. Brown paper grocery bags, wrapping paper, fabric scraps, etc.
Instructions:
- With the ruler, measure the height and width of the open textbook.
- Add 5 inches to the width. Add 2 inches to the height.
- Mark off a piece of the grocery bag of these dimensions using the ruler and pencil, and then cut along those lines.
- To make the cover, spread out the piece you cut flat on a table.
- Center the book vertically, making sure the top and bottom edges of the book are parallel to the top and bottom edges of the cover. There should be about an inch of cover on the top and on the bottom.
- Fold the cover up at the bottom, making a crease at the bottom of the book. Do the same from the top. Then remove the book and fold along the creases for the entire width of the cover. The cover is now as tall as your book.
- Place the book back onto the cover, lining up the top and bottom edges of the book along the edges of the cover. They should line up perfectly; if they don't, redo the above steps.
- Slide the book towards the right edge of the cover, stopping 1 1/2 - 2 inches from the edge.
- Fold the cover up from the right, making a crease at the right edge of the book. Remove the book as before and fold along the crease for the entire height of the cover.
- Insert the back cover of the book into the pocket you've created. Push it in all the way and close the book.
- Fold the left end of the cover over the book's front cover, making a crease at the edge of the front cover. Fold along this crease for the entire height of the cover.
- Insert the front cover of the book into this new pocket. Close the book.
- Secure the cover with clear tape: one or two pieces for each of the four corners.
- Decorate with markers, pictures or other scraps from around the house!
