Happy 4th of July!

Have fun making this July 4th craft using materials from around the house. Get Mom or Dad to help, or get permission before beginning this project!

Fourth of July Fan

Supplies needed:

  • One large popsicle stick (or two or more small popsicle sticks)
  • Food wrapper scraps (blue, red and white)
  • One rectangular piece of chipboard/cereal box (size of your choice)
  • Scissors
  • Glue or tape

Instructions:

  • Cut food wrapper scraps into long strips.
    • Ex. seven or eight strips of red and white
  • Cut blue food wrapper scraps into one large square or use pieces to combine into a square.
  • Glue blue food wrapper scraps in a square in the top left corner of the cardboard.
  • Glue every other red and white strip to make the stripes of the flag on the space remaining on your chipboard.
  • Let dry.
  • Securely glue or tape your popsicle stick to back of flag.
  • Cool down while celebrating the 4th!

  • Make sure to have clearly marked and visible recycling containers at your Independence Day celebrations.
  • Instead of throwing away left over food compost it! Or make sure to store leftover food in reusable containers.
  • Use reusable plates and silverware instead of disposable ones.
