Advisory Board

An advisory board, not to exceed 15 members, oversees program development and implementation. DPPEA Director Gary Hunt chairs the board. Membership may consist of a balanced group of manufacturers, industries, industry trade groups, environmental and citizen non-governmental organizations, small businesses, universities, representatives of city and county government, agribusiness, DENR representatives and/or others deemed appropriate. The DENR Secretary approves all invitations to the Board. Whenever possible, Environmental Stewards, who have been in good standing in the program for a minimum of one year, will be given priority for membership.

Role of Advisory Board  
The advisory board:

  • Establishes ground rules including addressing potential conflict of interest issues;
  • Reviews program materials and makes suggestions for improvements;
  • Reviews applications that meet minimum requirements and recommends Rising Stewards and Stewards;
  • Reviews program effectiveness and make any recommendeds changes to the Secretary; and
  • Any other duties assigned to them by the Secretary.
